The sold child now on mother’s lap

Failing to pay the charge of the hospital, hapless parents had sold their new-born child to a neighbouring issueless couple in Gazipur. Being informed, Gazipur Metropolitan police went to the couple, took the child back from their possession and handed over it to the parents after repaying the hospital bills. The incident occurred at Konabari area of the district on Friday.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police Abu Laich Mohammad Elias Ziku informed, Keya Khatun, 20, wife of Sharif Hossain of Enayetpur area under Kashimpur was admitted to Central Hospital in Knoabari with labour pain on April-21. 

Keya gave birth to their first issue, a male child, through Caesarean operation the same day. After staying 11-day at the hospital, she was released from the hospital but their hospital bill amounting Taka 47,000 remained unpaid. It was not possible for Keya's husband Sharif to repay such a huge amount of bills. 

Being failed to manage the hospital bill, Keya and her husband sold their child to an issueless neighbour at Taka 25,000 and repaid the hospital bill. After selling their child, they returned to their house at Enayetpur under Kashimpur town area of the district. 

Anowar Hossain, Commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police came to learn the incident from the Additional IG ( SB) and directed the concerned police authorities to take immediate measure to rescue the child and to hand it over to its parents. Later,  Gazipur Metropolitan Police Commissioner himself repaid the hospital bills and returned the newborn child to its parents. 

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police of Gazipur Abu Laich informed the mother was highly grateful by getting back her first and the only child and thanked the Gazipur Police officials for their humanitarian action. Both mother and child are stated to be in good health.
