Marvel's ‘Eternals’ treats audiences to Richard Madden's Ikaris in action, and his powers make him the MCU's version of ‘Superman’. Ikaris is seen throughout Eternals using his powers against the Eternals' monstrous rivals known as the Deviants, all of which bring DC's Man of Steel to mind. While there are other ‘Superman’ equivalents in Marvel Comics, Ikaris is the closest character match for MCU's first ‘Superman,’ though he does have some different powers that set him apart as well.

‘Eternals’ sees Marvel's race of canonical immortals finally being introduced MCU, having been absent throughout large portions of Earth's history despite their more than 7,000 years of existence on the planet. ‘Eternals’ also reveals the reason they didn't intervene and help the Avengers with Thanos or any other major threats despite their age, which is due to orders from their creators known as the Celestials, giant cosmic beings who also created the Deviants. As the Celestials instructed, the Eternals are only allowed to "interfere in human conflicts unless Deviants are involved." Now, the events of ‘Avengers: Endgame’ has led to an incoming threat known as the Emergence, motivating the Eternals to step out of the shadows and save Earth from destruction.

Throughout ‘Eternals’, Ikaris can be seen flying, fighting with super strength, and using blasts of cosmic heat vision to fight various Deviants, all of which are classic powers used by DC's Superman. Thus far, this makes the Eternal played by Richard Madden the first real ‘Superman’ equivalent in the MCU, despite other heroes from Marvel Comics such as the Sentry or Hyperion possessing solid parallels with the Man of Steel as well in their own right. In the comics, Ikaris is one of the Eternals' strongest members, capable of going toe-to-toe with the likes of Thanos himself while also having some more unique abilities such as psionics, telepathy, and telekinesis.    - Screen Rant
