The inauguration of the new theater group ‘Theatre Cycle’ was took place on February 24 at the Natmondol auditorium of Dhaka University. To celebrate, ‘Theatre Cycle’ staged American playwright Terry Roche’s ‘Roots and Wings’ play.
The play is directed by Md Abdur Razzak and Shankar Kumar Biswas. In addition two other conceptual performances on contemporary issues were also presented. Finally, the inauguration of ‘Theater Cycle’ was conducted by Professor Dr Jamil Ahmed, Prof Dr Israfil Shahin, Assistant Professor Shahman Moishan of Dhaka University, Vice-chairperson of Asiatic 360 group Sara Zaker and Prof Dr Zebuna Nasrin Ahmed of BUET and Notre Damer UNiveristy Bangladesh Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Patrick D Gaffney, CSC. of the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies of Dhaka University. Representatives of theater, film and television media including teachers from different departments of the university were present at the time. Mentionable, ‘Theatre Cycle’ is a non-profit arts organization. This creative organization based in Bangladesh has been working with performing arts as a whole since its inception.
The organization dreams of applying performing arts,
especially theater, as a panacea or medicine for people of different classes at national and international levels.
