In a heartfelt gesture, The Academy honoured Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) by sharing one of his most memorable scenes from the 2001 hit film "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham" on their official Instagram account. The tribute arrived just in time for SRK’s 59th birthday, adding a special touch to the celebrations.
The chosen scene captures SRK’s character, Rahul Raichand, making a grand entrance at his family’s mansion during Diwali. In the scene, Rahul arrives in a helicopter and steps onto the courtyard, where his mother, Nandini Raichand (played by Jaya Bachchan), senses his presence. The moment is filled with emotion as Jaya’s character, initially welcoming her husband with an aarti, shifts her attention toward Rahul. She eventually sees him, and he playfully asks, "Hey mom, how do you always sense when I’m about to arrive?" She smiles through her tears, marking his forehead with tilak and touching his face lovingly.
The Academy captioned the video with, "A mother’s intuition is always right," and asked fans if this was SRK’s best entry scene. The post quickly gained attention, with director Karan Johar, who wrote, directed, and produced the film, resharing it on his Instagram Story, saying, "This post made me smile wide."
Alongside SRK, "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham" featured big stars like Kajol, Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor, and Rani Mukerji. Fans around the world celebrated SRK’s birthday with heartfelt messages, and his home, Mannat, lit up for the occasion. Looking ahead, SRK is set to appear in the upcoming film "King," scheduled for release on Eid 2026.
