Thakurgaon shop owners protest demanding to keep shops open

Traders of Thakurgaon district staged demonstration and formed human chain demanding to keep their shops open maintaining health guidelines.

The traders gathered at the four-way intersection of the town on Thursday morning and staged demonstration.

The traders chanted various slogans during the demonstration including "we want to keep the shops open in compliance with the health guidelines" and “accept our demands and open the shops”. 

Habibul Islam Bablu, President of District Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Atul Roy, President of District Hotel and Restaurant Owners Association, Faridul Islam, President of District Traders Welfare Society and Mamunur Rashid, General Secretary of District Traders Welfare Society were present among others during this time.   

The speakers said that public transports are operating in lockdown and garments are also open. The markets should remain open as well.  “We would like to request the government to consider our situation. We want our markets to remain open maintaining hygiene rules”, they added.  Later, the traders handed over the memorandum to the deputy commissioner.
