Students and members of the public staged a protest march in Thakurgaon, condemning the killing of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inkilab Mancha and a prospective independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, and demanding justice for those responsible.
The procession was brought out from the town’s Art Gallery area after Friday prayers and, after marching through various streets, gathered in front of the District School.
During the demonstration, speakers called for the immediate arrest and speedy trial of those who attacked Sharif Osman Hadi, the recovery of illegal firearms, and the resignation of the Adviser for Home Affairs.
It may be recalled that Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inkilab Mancha, was injured in a shooting by assailants last Friday. He later died on Thursday night while undergoing treatment in Singapore.
