People in Thakurgaon celebrated the day of liberation from the Pakistani army on Thursday.
Thakurgaon-1 lawmaker and Awami League Presiding Member Ramesh Chandra Sen inaugurated the celebration programme at 10am reciting national anthem and hoisting national and party flags.
On this occasion, the rally went around the city. Thakurgaon Deputy Commissioner KM Kamruzzaman Selim, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Moniruzzamanand freedom fighters from the district were present on the occasion.
After that, leaders and activists of Bangladesh MuktijoddhaSangsad and district AL League, government officials paid homage by laying wreaths at the mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the bungalow.
A procession was brought out on the occasion. Besides, Bangladesh Udichi Shilpi Gosthi, Thakurgaon chapter, also brought out a a procession from the Public Library grounds parading the streets of the town.
