Putting an end to long-standing public suffering, the construction of roads and drains under the Thakurgaon Municipality has finally begun. The work was inaugurated on Friday at 12 PM on the road in front of the Pouro Community Centre by Mirza Faisal Amin, President of the district BNP.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Municipality Administrator Sardar Mostafa Shahin, Project Director Mafiz Uddin Bablu, District BNP General Secretary Poygam Ali, Municipality Chief Executive Officer Rakibuzzaman, Pouro BNP President Shariful Islam Sharif, and other distinguished guests.

Under the 'Resilient Urban and Territorial Development Project (RUTDP)', Thakurgaon Municipality has been allocated approximately Tk 364 crore for various development works. The first phase, involving work worth about Tk 30 crore, was inaugurated today.

Under the first phase of this project, the road from Satyapir Bridge to Goyalpara Sultan's house, and the road and RCC drain from the east side of Mirza Pump to Nargun will be constructed. The total road length has been set at 9.150 kilometers, and the drain length at 7.250 kilometers.

Residents hope that the implementation of this project will end the long-standing waterlogging and woes in the city, paving the way for a modern and improved urban system in Thakurgaon.
