Police arrested Md Nazmul from Narayanganj's Naora, a terrorist in the area.He was arrested in a raid on Friday night based on a secret tip-off.
Rupganj Police Station OC Liakat Hossain confirmed this information on Saturday afternoon.
The OC said that the arrested Nazmul is the son of Ahmed Ullah of Naora and the nephew of BNP leader Selim. There are several cases against him, including murder, torture of women, fraud, embezzlement and extortion, and land grabbing. The police official also said that legal action is underway against him.
Local residents and victims said that Nazmul basically does politics for top terrorist BNP leader Selim of this area. He is also known as Selim's right hand. His main occupation is extortion, terrorist activities and intimidation of the common people in various places in the area. After the fall of the Awami League in the August 5 student movement, Nazmul has become a name of terror in the Naora area. He has built a powerful terrorist force with the political identity of BNP.
