An elderly tenant was allegedly beaten to death by the house owner in Nalua area of Narayanganj’s Sadar upazila on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Mehedi Hasan,52, son of Fazal Haq, a tenant of Naluapara area.
Police and family members claimed that the house owner hit Hasan following an altercation over the rent, leaving him injured.
Family members recovered Mehedi and rushed him to Narayanganj General Hospital where on duty doctor declared him dead.
A murder case was filed with Narayanganj Sadar model police station in this connection.
Police began drive to arrest the murder suspects, said Asaduzzaman, officer-in-charge od Sadar Police Station.
