Ten robbers arrested, arms and looted goods recovered

Police arrested ten members of a robbery gang from different places in the country in a case filed for committing robbery at a house at Bhanga upazila in Faridpur.

Jamal Pasha, additional superintendent of Faridpur police, said this at a press conference at Bhanga Police Station on Saturday. 

The arrestees are residents of different districts including Gopalganj, Feni and Faridpur. The arrestee are Farid Khan, 47, of Matla village of Gopalganj Sadar, Islam Mollah, 52, of Dhanjail village of Kashiani upazila, Belayat Sheikh, 35, of Padmo Beel, Sahidul Shiekh, 33, of Char Bahar village of Muksudpur upazila, Habib Munshi, 45, of Bhanga upazila in Faridpur, and Musa Bepari, 45, of the upazila, Sujan Sardar, 39, of Barra village, Obaidur Matbbar, 26, of Bolivodri village of Saltha upazila, Badiul Alam, 50, of Mehedipur area under Dagonbhua upazila of Feni, and Palash Kor, 28, of Kemtoli village of Muradnagar upazila in Cumilla. 

According to police, a gang of robbers looted valuables from the house of one Delowar Fakir of Chotto Hamirdi village on December 13and Kazi Fahad Islam Shovan at Boro Hamirdi village on December 17.

Delowar filed a case against Chunnu Matabbar, 35, of Boro Hamirdi village under Bhanga upazila and some other unidentified persons on the same day. Later, police arrested Chunnu and he confessed his involvement before a court. Based on information of Chunnu, a team of Bhanga police station conducted drives at different places and arrested ten members of the gang.

Abul Kalam Azad, sub-inspector of Bhanga Police Station, said that they recovered some gold, three mobile phones, a laptop, a tab, cash Tk 54,000, one pistol, four rounds of ammunition and local weapons during the drives.

The law enforcers arrested a gold trader named Palash Kor, 28, as the gold was found from his procession, said the police official.
