‘Teachers must be nurtured for their development’

Chittagong University Teachers Association organized a farewell reception for newly retired teachers and  welcome the 'new teachers' at the CU Business Administration Faculty Auditorium on Thursday afternoon.

Chittagong University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shireen Akhtar was present as the chief guest and CU Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Benu Kumar Dey was present as the special guest.  The meeting was presided over by CU Teachers Association President (Acting) Prof. Abdul Haque.  Prof. Dr. Sajib Kumar Ghosh, General Secretary of CU Teachers' Association, delivered the welcome address on the occasion. The meeting was moderated by Professor Dr. Nazneen Nahar Islam, a member of the CU Teachers' Association.  CU Faculty of Social Sciences Dean Professor Dr. Siraj Ud Daullah, CU Banking and Insurance Department Professor Dr. Sultan Ahmed, Chemistry Department Professor Dr. Shahanara Begum and Fine Arts Institute Professor Nasima Akhtar and CU Zoology Department Lecturer Humaira Haque among the outgoing faculty members spoke.  And English department lecturer Abu Mohammad Kaiser.

 CU VC said that teaching is a great profession and teachers are people builders.  Those teachers who are retiring after a long teaching life are our pride.  He called upon the young teachers to develop themselves as ideal teachers by imitating, nurturing and practicing the ideals of these talented teachers.

Addressing the new teachers, he said that the ideals and intentions with which the new teachers have chosen the great profession of teaching should be fulfilled through their work, teaching and research. 

It is expected that the new teachers themselves will be more enriched in knowledge and research and will be engaged in the production of enlightened human resources.
