TCB now to sale chickpea among other essentials for card holders

Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) under the Ministry of Commerce had started selling of its February consignments in Jhenaidah. 

The selling activities in Jhenaidah hub were inaugurated on Jhenaidah Shishu Academy premises on Monday morning. Presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Jhenaidah Sadar Razia Akter Chowdhury, Deputy Commissioner (DC) in Jhenaidah SM Rafiqul Islam inaugurated the event as the chief guest.  The authorities have added chickpea marking the Ramadan in the list of existing two kilograms of lentil, two liters of soyabean oil and one kilogram of sugar at Tk 525.  TCB Assistant Director Atiqur Rahman and District Controller of Food in Jhenaidah Sandul Mannan, among others, were present. 

TCB sources said they have been distributing the essential commodities among a total of 120,133 card holders belonging to poor and disadvantaged families through 105 dealers in Jhenaidah sadar, Kaliganj, Kotchandpur, bordering Moheshpur, Shailkupa and Harinakundu. 

Deputy commissioner SM Rafiqul Islam in his speech during the inaugural session said, the government has been trying with its utmost capability and sincerity to stand by the distressed people by selling goods at a subsidized rate when they were caught in the fire of price hike throughout the country due to some global crisis. 

He had assured of increasing the number of the card holders in near future so that more people could be benefited from the government services to fight against price hike.
