The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has detained an assistant commissioner of Taxes red-handed in Bogura with Tk 50,000 bribe money.
The detainee is Abhijit Kumar Dey, assistant commissioner of Taxes of Bogura Tax Circle-15. A team of the ACC raided Avijit’s office on Tuesday afternoon and caught him red handed with the bribe money.
It was alleged that Abhijit demanded Tk 50,000 from one businessman Yunus Ali of Nandigram upazila to update his tax file. Later, he filed a complaint to the ACC about the incident. Taking the allegation into account, an ACC team laid a trap at Tax Circle-15 and caught the tax official red-handed with the money.
Assistant Director of the Integrated Office Wahid Manzur Sohag confirmed the matter. Later, the ACC filed a case in this connection.
