Superintendent of Islampur Madrasa Abu Bakkar Siddique has been accused of embezzling lakhs of Tk by making fake lists of orphans by showing the living guardians of students studying in the Madrasa as dead. Since the establishment of the orphanage, the living parents of the students have accused the madrasa super of embezzling lakhs of Tk for food and clothing of the orphans.
According to local sources, the orphanage was established in 1996 next to Dobila Islampur Madrasa in Tarash upazila. The organisation started receiving government grants from 2004. But the orphanage authorities could not give any account of the government grant money from 2005 to 2020. Aynal Hossain, Yusuf Ali, Abdul Khaleq, Farhad Ali and Akhter Hossain complained that there was no activity in the orphanage now except for a signboard. Madrasa Superintendent Abu Bakkar Siddique has been embezzling lakhs of Tk from orphans since the establishment of the orphanage. During the departmental inspection or supervision of the administration, some children from different areas were present and their pictures were taken.
Debipur village Abdus Salam of ebipur village said that he got his son enrolled at theIslampur madrasa in 2006. The Madrasa Super showed him dead in paper and enrolled his son as an orphan. Later, he took the money allocated by the government and the private sector.
Tajim Uddin of the same village, Faruk Hossain, Anwar Hossain and Habibur Rahman of Kalidasnili village were shown dead and the president of the madrasa super and orphanage committee raised millions of Tk by showing the boys of the madrasa as orphans. Jabed Ali, Abdur Razzak, Abdul Quddus and Amir Uddin of Debipur village said that they don't understand whether they are living people or dead people now. Even though they are alive, the superintendent and president of the orphanage are showing them dead on paper and enlisting government grants by listing the boys as orphans.
Dabila Islampur Senior Alim Madrasa Super and orphanage director Abu Bakkar Siddique requested not to publish any report in this regard and said, "Writing will damage his reputation and the organization."
Tarash Upazila Social Service Officer KM Moniruzzaman said that the orphanage did not receive any grant after he joined.
He has received complaints from the locals. Action will be taken after on-the-spot investigation.
