Taptales Restaurant of the city’s Bananiarea on Tuesday deposited Valued Added Tax ( VAT) of Tk 33 lakh after a raid in the famous restaurant. The restaurant also get a new VAT registration.
Talking to the Bangladesh Post, DrMoinul Khan, Director General of the VAT Intelligence & Investigation confirm it.
After the investigation of the VAT intelligence and investigation team , it was revealed that the restaurant authority evaded VAT of Tk 33 lakh.
According to the VAT official, the TaptalesRestaurant was conducting business illegally without getting any VAT registration from the government. Despite having no VAT registration number, the restaurant was taking VAT fromit’s customers through fake papers, said Dr Moinul Khan.
They were not depositing the VAT to the government. After getting a complaint from a customer, VAT intelligence and investigation officials conducted a raid on June 15 this year. Investigation reveals that the restaurant authority was conducting their business for last five months without VAT registration. However, it was mandatory to get VAT registration prior to start business.
According to the VAT intelligences, theTaptales Restaurant sold foods ofTk 2,20,63,009 between January 2021 to May 2021.
They supposed to pay Tk 33,09,452 as VAT.
A case was filed for violating laws and the restaurant may be fined in the case, DrMoinul Khan added.
