Tallest Buddha statue unveiled in Bandarban

The 35 feet high, Jinamezu Rajamuni Buddha statue, was unveiled and dedicated in Lama upazila of Bandarban on Friday. Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Minister Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing MP was the chief guest on the occasion. Jinameju Rajamuni is the tallest Buddha statue in the district. It was established at the Jinamazu Orphanage in Yangcha area of Lama upazila of the district.

On this occasion, a rally, the ‘Pindodan’ of the monks, the hoisting of religious and national flags, the inauguration and dedication of Buddha statue by the monks and a religious meeting was organized.  Officials of the administration and political including Zila Parishad Chairman Kya Shoi Hla, Deputy Commissioner Md Daudul Islam, and Superintendent of Police Zerin Akhtar were present too.

Later, the new hostel building of an orphanage funded by the Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board was also inaugurated. The 4-roomed building costed Tk 30 lakh.
