Tailors in Tangail busy handling Eid orders

Eid-ul-Fitr, the major religious festival for Muslims of all over the world is to come at the end of Ramadan. Eid shopping has already started as this major religious festival as at the door. Many young people are buying clothes to make dresses by their choice ahead of Eid. People are in rush to the tailor's shop. Due to the pressure of orders for bespoke dresses following Eid, the business of Darjipara (tailors’ alley) has increased considerably. Mahmudul Hasan College Market, New Market, Cooperative Super Market and other markets of Tangail town are also passing very busy time.

Talking to Ruma Akter, a young woman of Tangail Municipality, she said, "I have ordered for a Salwar Kameez for Eid this year. The wages of Salwar and Kameez have been kept at tk 350. I noticed a lot of workload and pressure in the tailor shops. I hope I get my dress on time. '

A young man named Farooq Hasan, said, ‘I have ordered a Punjabi on the occasion of Eid. The wage for a single Punjabi has been kept at tk 400. I also ordered a shirt for my dad. The wage of the shirt has been kept at tk 300. '

Uttam Kumar Shill, owner of Uttam Tailors, said, "I have received a lot of orders this year. Among them, orders for Punjabi and traditional dresses are the most. I receive tk 350-400 for a single Punjabi as wage. Besides, I have received many orders for shirts and pants. The wage of the shirt is tk 250-300, depending on the design and cloth quality. The wages for pants are tk 350-400. '

Proprietor of Ma-Moni Tailors, Marfat Ali said, ‘We failed to do business for the last two years because of the global pandemic Covid-19. I am getting a lot of orders this year. But I am unable to work properly due to lack of staff. We are busy in tailoring centering on different festivals. Those who were staffs have now chosen another profession. We mainly do seasonal business.'

Proprietor of New Mohana Tailors Saiful Islam said, "I take orders for girls' dresses. My shop is specialized for women's dresses. I have received a lot of orders for Salwar Kameez on the occasion of Eid this year. I get tk 300-350 for a single piece of Salwar Kameez depending on the design. Business is much better than last year.
