Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of Muslims, is at the doorstep. Because of that, tailors of Chuadanga district are now very busy making different type of dresses.
Abdul Aziz, proprietor of Dallas Tailor said, 20 workers have been working for sewing dresses for men. They are working day and night to deliver all dresses before Eid.
Aziz also said, “On the occasion of holy Eid, a good number of man have been coming to their favorite tailors to place their orders for sewing shirts, pants and other dresses with good fitting. We are charging Tk 650 for sewing a pant and Tk 450 for sewing a shirt.”
Ridoy, owner of students’ tailor at Court Area in the town, has sewing female and kids dresses on average charge at Tk 500 to Tk 700 per dress according to the design and direction.
Moriom Ara Mollik Mary of Dakkhin Haspatal Para in the town said, “I usually buy unstitched clothes after first Ramadan to avoid the last–minute rush both the fabric stores and tailoring shops. I did most of my shopping from Mohon Bastralya in the district town and gave orders to make baby dresses, Qamij, salowar and panjabi to Students Tailors, Dhaka Tailors and Madani Tailors.”
Umme Atika Mollik Akhi and Sanjida Pervin Rotna , Dakkhin Haspatal Para and Chhaighoria in sadar upazila, Chuadanga, placed order for embroidery of panjabis and ‘Salwar-Kameezes’ with the design of her choice at Emergency Road area in the town.
While visiting factories of different tailoring shops in the town, it was found that the workers were having very busy time in sewing, pressing and packaging for delivering the making dresses.
Sonia Khatun Popy of Cinema Hall Para in the town said, when tailors denied to take order for sewing frogs and pajamas of her brother daughter Ushar, she hired a sewing machine from her neighbor. After making these to her brother’s daughter, she expressed happiness.
It is learnt, some proprietors of the shops are not taking order of making dresses of customers as they will not be able to deliver those before Eid. A few number of female are disappointed not to taking order for sewing their dresses by their favorite tailors for Eid celebration.
