Tablig man infected, Singair municipality under lockdown

The local administration has locked down the Singair municipal area of Manikganj after a Tabligh Jamaat member was identified as coronavirus patient. The lockdown was enforced from early morning on Sunday after the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) confirmed the case. 

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Singair Runa Laila confirmed the matter.  According to the UNO, the 60-year old infected man, hailing from Modhya Kaichail village under Nagarkanda upazila in Fardipur, came to Azimpur Nayadangi Baitul Mamur and Markazul Maa Arif Wad-da-Wah Madrasa at Azimpur area of Singain as part of a 13-member team of Tabligh Jamaat who had been staying there from March 24.

As Tabligh Jamaat man suffered from Covid-19 like symptoms such as fever, cough and respiratory problem, the IEDCR conducted a test on his sample, said Runa Laila. IEDCR confirmed to the local administration of Singair upazila that the man has tested positive with coronavirus. 

The other 12 members of the team, six locals and their family members have been sent to home quarantine, said the UNO. Runa Laila said that the local administration would provide food assistance to the family members from government fund during the lockdown.
