Harvest of T-Aman paddy has begun in Sylhet amid festivity and happiness among the farmers as the they expect bumper paddy production this year.
Many farmers said that they hope bumper production as pest attack were not seen this season.
Abul Hashem, Deputy Director of Department Agricultural Extension (DAE) in Sylhet, has said that different varieties of paddy were produced in the area.
The DAE sources said that a total 4 lakh 2 thousand 12 hectors of paddy field were brought under the T-Aman cultivation in Sylhet division with the target of 10 lakh 50 thousand 73 hundred tonnes of paddy. The DAE officials expected to get 1.65mt rice in per hector field.
Sumon Ahmed, a farmer of Govindasree village in Sylhet, said, “We are very happy this season as our production output is very good. I already harvesting four acres of land,” he added.
However, beside the T-Aman harvesting , farmers of the low lying areas are busy to prepare the Boro seed beds, said the DAE officials.
