Synchronized Boro harvest begins in Jhenaidah

Harvesting of 50 bighas of Boro cultivated through synchronized method was inaugurated at Gaganna village in Jhenaidah Sadar  upazila on Wednesday morning. 

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Jhenaidah Mozibor Rahman inaugurated the harvesting himself remaining present at the field. Deputy Director (DD) of Jhenaidah Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Asgar Ali, additional deputy director (ADD) Mosharraf Hossain, Upazila parishad chairman Abdur Rashid, upazila agriculture officer Jahidul Karim, agriculture extension officers (AEO) Junayeed Habib and Imdadul Islam   among others were present there.

DAE sources said the farmers of the village had brought a total of 50 bighas of land under the synchronized method of farming for some benefits from the plots together. The harvesting is completed with the speedy system of combined harvester. The farmers brought their 50 bighas of land under the farming in the season. 

Tejgold variety of paddy was cultivated there, the sources said. Some of the farmers when contacted said they were very impressed to see 31-32 maunds of Boro produced on each bigha while, they were receiving 29 to 30 maunds from the same land cultivating the paddy with previous system.

DC Mozibor Rahman in his speech said the method has been benefiting the farmers in many ways like least weeding and faster harvesting, requires least amount of pesticides and easy to manage. 

It is also comfortable for the agriculture officers working in the fields for monitoring the yield. The method will help strengthen the socio-economic state of the farmers and contribute in producing additional food grains production countrywide, Mozibor Rahman said.
