Swechhasebak Dal Chattogram Municipality unit president HM Rashed Khan said Jatiotabadi Swechhasebak Dal was born to voluntarily stand by the people in times of various calamities.
He came up with the assertion while distributing food items to the flood-affected people in different flood-hit areas of Fatikchhari Upazila on Sunday.
He said a serious humanitarian situation has been created for the flood in 13 districts of the country caused due to the heavy rain for few days and the onrush of upstream water from India. The flood-affected people are living subhuman life due to the sudden flood. Houses and croplands of several lakh people went under water in the flood. Only food assistance is not enough for the flood victims. They need to be rehabilitated after the flood. People of all classes and professions need to stand beside the helpless people. We will be beside the flood-hit people until the flood situation improves.
HM Rashed Khan said Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman founded Jatiotabadi Swechhasebak Dal to protect democracy, rights of the people and serving people voluntarily. According to the instructions of Begum Khaleda Zia and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, all level leaders and activists of BNP along with Jatiotabadi Swechhasebak Dal are relentlessly continuing service operation in the flood-affected areas across the country.
Chattogram Municipality Swechhasebak Dal General Secretary Belayet Hossain Bulu said at this moment we all need to come forward to help the flood-affected people. They are living a subhuman life as they are living under the open sky. With a collective effort of all, we will be able to face the flood situation.
The leaders and activists of the party visited several flood-hit areas to take information about the flood-affected people.
Chattogram Municipality Swechhasebak Dal president HM Rashed Khan and general secretary Belayet Hossain Bulu, its vice-president Harunur Rashid, Organising Secretary Ziaur Rahman Zia, Joint Secretary Zamir Uddin Nahid and others were also present there.
