A patient suffering from fever, cough and breathing problem died at his rented house at Mohabbat Nandipur village under Maidanhata union of Shibganj upazila of the district at the early hours of Saturday. The deceased person was identified as Masud Rana(45) son of Korban Ali Sheikh of Murail village under Kahaloo upazila of the district.
Local physicians, however, suspect his death might be linked to Coronavirus infection. The sample of the saliva of the deceased person has been collected and sent to Dhaka for testing. !5 adjacent houses of the village have been 'lcoked down' following the death of Masud Rana.
District Health department sources informed, Masud Rana used to work as a trader at Kasim Bazaar of Dhaka. His wife Sazeda Begum works at TMSS and is posted at Shibganj upazila. She used to live with her eight-year-old son.
While staying in Dhaka, Masud Rana was attacked by fever, cough and breathing problem from March-24 and he arrived at his rented house in Shibganj on Friday. After evening his condition deteriorated and he took treatment from a rural practitioner but he died early in the morning of Saturday.
Suspecting the death related to Cornavirus infection, his wife Sazeda informed the incident of his death to Dr. Shafique Amin Kajol through the hotline number of phone. Afterwards, Dr. Mortaza Abdul Hey Shamim, Medical Officer of Shibganj Upazila Health Complex arrived at the house around 10-00 am and declared Masud Rana dead.
Dr. Shafique Amin Kajol, RMO of Mohammad Ali Hospital in Bogura informed, the saliva collected from the dead body will be sent to IEDCR in Dhaka for testing.
