Suspect in murder of mother, 3 children arrested

The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has arrested Parvez, 20, the mastermind behind the murder of an expatriate's wife and three children in the Abdar area of Jainabazar in Gazipur's Sreepur upazila. Gazipur district PBI inspector Hafizur Rahman said he was arrested in broad daylight on Sunday (April 26th). The arrested Parvez is the son of Kazim Uddin of Abdar village. In addition to him, several others took part in the killings.

PBI inspector Hafizur Rahman said, “Parvez was arrested from Abdar area at night. He later confessed to the murder when questioned. Later, the PBI came out with him. According to information given by him, blood-stained clothes and a mobile phone were found buried under the ground. Three gold chains and some gold ornaments including Fatima's earrings were recovered from inside pockets of pajamas.”

Police recovered the bodies of a mother and 3 children from a house in the Jainabazar area of Sreepur upazila in Gazipur on Thursday afternoon. Police suspect that four people were strangled to death by miscreants at some point in the middle of the night on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Indonesian citizen Smriti Akter Fatema, 45, wife of Redwan Hossain Kajal, an expatriate from Abdar area, his eldest daughter Sabrina Sultana Noora, 16, youngest daughter Haorin Hawa, 12, and speech-impaired son Fadil, 7.
