Khorshed Alam Sujan, vice-president of Chattogram City Awami League, resigned from the post of administrator Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) as he completed 180 days of his tenure on Monday.

Kazi Mozammel Haque, chief executive officer of city corporation, has been given the new responsibility.

This instruction has been given in the notification of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives.  It said, “Kazi Muhammad Mozammel Haque, the chief executive officer of the city corporation, will continue to play a vital and financial role until the elected council assumes office in the January 27 city corporation elections.”

Kazi Muhammad Mozammel Haque, chief executive officer of city corporation, said, “I have received the office order. I understand the responsibility from the administrator.”

Administrator Khorshed Alam Sujan said, “I thought I took charge on August 5 so I will hand over the responsibility on 5th February.  But my term is calculated to be 180 days.  So I am leaving the City Corporation by handing over the responsibility.”

Speaking at the CCC 'Pie Festival' at Laldighi Park in the city on Monday, Khorshed Alam Sujan said, "My farewell day is the last time.  I do not know why the leader (Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina) gave me the responsibility for six months.  I have tried my best to serve the people of the city with all my abilities and skills.  Tried to give the gift of a developed, livable and humane city.  I don't know how successful I have been done.

Sujan said, "Dear city dweller, if you are satisfied with my work, please bless me."  And if I hurt anyone, I apologize to you for the tax.  The administration has had to go through a lot of hardships.  Please forgive me.  Believe me, I swear by life, I am honest, I don't want to be dishonest.  I have tried my best to serve you.

Addressing the newly elected Mayor Rezaul Karim, he said, “I hope he will build this city as a humane city that is livable, clean and healthy.”
