Sujan for going tough to ease Ctg traffic jam

Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Administrator Alhaj Khorshed Alam Sujan said they have built roads to facilitate smooth movement by improving the communication system of the city but these newly constructed roads are now occupied by parking trucks, lorries and trailers. 

“For this reason, CCC face criticism from the city dwellers.  So, my call to the traffic department of Chittagong Metropolitan Police is to take action to stop illegal parking on the road and the CCC will cooperate,” he said on Thursday.

Sujan made the remarks while inaugurating the carpeting work of the Port Connecting Road from Sagarika Junction to Kalka Junction (part of Mazar).

funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Taher Brothers is implanting the work, to be completed by March next year.

CCC administrator said expressed satisfaction over the beginning of the road carpeting work. “For the last three years, the city people, especially the local residents, have been suffering,” he added.

Out of the total 6 km of this PC road, 2 km from Sagarika to Kalka junction is now being repaired. The remaining 4 km from Kalka to Tasfia will be carpeted at the end of this section. The culvert is being constructed at Kalka junction under the same project.

Sujan warned the contractor of losing the contract if it misses the deadline.  

He also instructed the contractors and the officials concerned to spray water every 1 hour to reduce dust during the construction work.

CCC Chief Engineer Lt Col Sohail Ahmed, Additional Chief Engineer Rafiqul Islam Manik, Supervising Engineer Abu Saleh, Executive Engineer Abu Sadat Mohammad Tayab, Biplob Das and other local personalities were present on the occasion.
