Rare and complex treatment method using thoracic endovascular aortic repair, the treatment of aortic aneurysm disease has been successfully completed by the international standard hospital Evercare Hospital Chittagong.  It should be noted that this method has not been used anywhere else in the country except in the capital.

The hospital authorities held a press conference on Sunday to discuss various aspects of the disease and treatment.

This method of treatment, called thoracic endovascular aortic repair, is used to treat the main blood vessels of the human body called the aorta.  It goes without saying that there is no need to cut in this method.  Dr Ashish Dey, Senior Consultant, Department of Interventional Cardiology and Dr Mohammad Fazle Maruf, Senior Consultant, Department of Thoracic Surgery and Cardiovascular, Evercare Hospital, Chittagong, successfully completed this treatment.

Dr Mohammad Fazle Maruf, Senior Consultant, Department of Thoracic Surgery and Cardiovascular, Evercare Hospital, Chittagong, said, “It is basically an asymptomatic disease.  As a result, it is more risky than any common disease.  However, the patient may feel pain in the abdomen and chest and the pressure may increase.  The disease is detected by CT scan of the abdomen, USG or X-ray and it is very important to get treatment after detection.  The disease is usually treated with surgery.  However, at present the disease is treated in a special and modern way like thoracic endovascular aortic repair, which is the method we have used. ”

He said, "You already know that this method has not been used anywhere else in the country except in the capital and this is the fourth time this method has been used successfully in Bangladesh."

Dr Ashish Dey, Senior Consultant, Department of Interventional Cardiology, Evercare Hospital Chittagong, said, “I am very happy and proud of the unimaginable success of Evercare Hospital Chittagong in the treatment of this rare disease.  If any part of the arteries in our body grows abnormally, it is called aortic aneurysm.  People with aortic aneurysms usually have a higher risk of developing diabetes and hypertension.  However, it can also be congenital.  Aortic aneurysm is not a disease to be neglected at all and if diagnosed, proper treatment is required.  This is because the disease causes 32-68 percent of patients to have aneurysm rupture which increases the patient’s risk of death.  So I urge you to make yourself aware of this disease and try to make others aware. ”
