‘Students should utilize time to build better Bangladesh’

Vice-Chancellor of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) Prof Dr Mohammad Rafiqul Alam urged students to be sincere and attentive to studies and utilize their time as student to build a developed Bangladesh.

He said this while addressing the orientation program of the first year students of 2019-20 academic year held at the University Basketball Field on Wednesday morning.

He also said, Chittagong is the commercial capital and one of the industrial area of the country. As Mirersarai and Anwara economic zones, Matarbari power plant, Karnaphuli tunnel and Chittagong port are located in the area, there is a regular need for engineers here. CUET engineers get priority here, as it is the only Engineering University in the southeast region of the country. This is a wonderful opportunity for the new CUET engineers.  

In addition to this, CUET is undergoing various infrastructural development under two separate DPPs of Tk 320 crore and Tk 90 crore provided by the present government.  Of this, the installation of sophisticated and international-standard laboratories and equipment for Taka 100 crore is underway. The VC said he believes that the current visual development of CUET will inspire new students.

He added, "We are determined to complete the academic calendar at the earliest."  The university administration always believes in the zero tolerance policy on discipline.  Therefore, parents and students should be equally vigilant in this regard. 

The Student Welfare Director Dr. Mohammad Mashiul Haque chaired the event while, Dean of Engineering Faculty Prof Dr Rabiul Alam, Dean of Architecture and Planning Faculty Dr. Md. Mainul Islam and Dean of Electrical and Computer Strategy Faculty Dr Muhammad Kamruzzaman spoke at the time. University Registrar Professor Dr Faruq-uz-Zaman Chowdhury delivered the welcome speech.
