A human chain was organized under the banner of students in front of the Gazipur Deputy Commissioner's Office to protest the ongoing rape and violence against women across the country and to demand maximum punishment for the rapists under the "Speedy Trial Act".
Md. Fardin Jahan Simant, a student of Gazipur district, said in the human chain that there was no party of rapists. Their real identity is that they are rapists. Labib Manab Bandan a student of Gazipur Cantonment College said at the rally that it was the sole responsibility and duty of the law enforcing agencies to ensure appropriate punishment for rapists. Ayubur Rahman Tawfiq, one of the organizers of the rally said that the appropriate punishment for rapists should be death sentence.
At the same many students of the surrounding colleges expressed their views in favor of the fair demands of the human chain.Students of Gazipur Metropolitan College, Gazipur Gazipur City College, Gazipur District College Bhawal Badre Alam Government College and Lincoln College all participated in the peaceful human chain under the banner of ordinary students irrespective of party affiliation.
