A human chain was held at Islamic University (IU) campus under the banner of general students, to protest teachers’ disgrace at University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Office on 6th February by the BCL leaders-activists and outsiders. They staged it in front of the University Administrative Building around 12:00pm on Saturday.
The human chain was led by university BCL Vice-President Mamunur Rashid of Management Department, Rakib Hasan of Human Resource Management Department and Rauful Hasan of Toursim and Hospitality Management Department where more than 50 students of different departments were also present. Meanwhile, the protesters showed placards with various slogans like- ‘ We demand punishment of the assaulters’, ‘Break the shackles of the outsiders’ and many more. They gave a three day ultimatum to the vice-chancellor to ensure the identification and punishment of the outsiders and criminals for assaulting the teachers on Tuesday at universities VC office.
During the human chain, some activists of BCL tried to oppose it and said some teachers forced their classmates to join the human chain. They stated that a group of teachers are trying to jeopardize the VC.
Early, the university BCL unit brought out a march against terrorism and militancy at the campus led by its President and Secretary, Faisal Siddiki Arafat and Nasim Ahmed Joy respectively.
