Student leaders gather at DU Iftar party

In a remarkable display of unity, student leaders from various organizations, including Chhatra League, Chhatra Dal, Chhatra Odhikar Parishad, and Chhatra Union, came together for an Iftar gathering at Dhaka University's TSC cafeteria. The event, hosted by the Dhaka University Journalists Association (DUJA), saw leaders exchanging ideas and opinions on crucial matters.

Mohiuddin Mujahid Mahi, general secretary, DUJA  conducted the programme, While the gathering featured former DU professor Abul Qasem Fazlul Haque, who highlighted the educational challenges in his address titled 'Crisis in Education: Relevance of Student Parliament Elections' and  Al Sadi Bhuiyan, President, DUJA in a chair. 

Noteworthy attendees included the University Vice-Chancellor ASM Maksud Kamal, along with other vice-chancellors, the President of DU Teachers' Association, and conveners from various faculties.

Vice-Chancellor Kamal emphasized the importance of maintaining harmony and a fair study environment, urging cooperation from all student organizations for the university's advancement. He expressed openness to student council elections, stressing the need for a conducive environment.

The sentiments were echoed by Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Muhammad Samad and Vice-Chancellor (Education) Prof. Sitesh Chandra Bachar, who highlighted the university's commitment to Bangabandhu's ideals and the importance of accurate journalism.

Professor Abul Qasem Fazlul Haque urged the administration to reconsider student parliament elections, emphasizing its historical significance and potential for modernizing student politics. Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib voiced concerns over expulsions and emphasized the need for speedy elections. He called for a University Environment Council meeting and emphasized the importance of ensuring freedom for all political student organizations on campus.

Chhatra League President Saddam Hossain emphasized DUCSU's role in nurturing democratic values and reducing campus violence. He called for swift implementation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's master plan to address accommodation and library issues.

The gathering concluded with a commitment to fostering a conducive environment for student politics and addressing pressing university issues.
