A faction of teachers and students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) continued their strike for the second consecutive day demanding removal of Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Farzana Islam. On Thursday (3 October), the agitating teachers and students under the banner of ‘Jahangirnagar Against Corruption’ overwhelmed the new and old administrative building around 7:30 am. They blocked the entrance gate of these buildings. As a result the administrative activities were shut.

At around 8 am the Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Nurul Alam and Acting Registrar Rahima Kaniz came to the new administrative building for their office but failed to enter into the building. A protesting teacher, Prof Rayhan Ryne of Philosophy Department said, “Today we will fax Chancellor (President) mentioning the rationality of removal of the VC.”

Mentionable that, protestors gave an ultimatum of October 1 to the VC for her resignation. As the VC did not resign, agitators started a comprehensive strike from October 2 for her removal. Meanwhile, a group of about one hundred teachers backed by the VC under banner of ‘Bangabandhu Shikkhok Parishad' arranged a day long mass public communication protesting the ongoing anti-VC movement and chanted slogans - 'conspiracy' against JU VC Prof Dr Farzana Islam.
