The anti-crime elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has vowed to carry out strict operations across the country to implement the strict restrictions to combat Covid-19 pandemic.

Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director of RAB’s legal and media wing, told reporters after inspecting RAB’s activities in the capital’s Russell Square at 12 noon on Saturday.

He said even under strict restrictions, many of those who go out are not wearing masks properly.

“We are taking punitive action against them as well as making them aware”, he added.

RAB has so far conducted more than four hundred mobile courts across the country to enforce the ban, and has imposed fines of more than Taka four lakh. Action has been taken against those who does not follow the hygiene rules by conducting regular patrols across the country and conducting more than four hundred additional checkposts outside the checkpoints.

He said, ‘I have seen while conducting patrols in the neighborhood, many people are not following the hygiene rules. Mass gatherings have been seen in various stalls.

So every request is considered considering the family. Please stay at home at this risky time of the day. Otherwise we will take action through mobile court, he warned.

In response to a question, the RAB official said, “Before I came here, I visited 10 checkposts and went to the neighborhood. You have rightly said that many people in the neighborhood do not follow the hygiene rules. From today, special operations will be conducted in the neighborhoods. I will request the honorable citizens that you will not gather in the neighborhood. ‘
