Cox’s Bazar Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Hasanuzzaman said that police are always engaged in the service of the people. They are working relentlessly day and night for the security of human life and property. But in Maheshkhali and Pahartali of the city, some people have given misleading status against the police officers through social media.

Such confusion is being spread from anonymous IDs to tarnish the image of the police. Therefore, strict action will be taken if any misleading information is spread against police through social media.

He made the remarks at a press briefing at his office on Tuesday night on the issue of giving misleading status against the police from several IDs through social media.

SP Hasanuzzaman added that there may be dissatisfaction with various police activities in the past. But at present the district police is working keeping all the blackness away. No one is above the law. The campaign against the miscreants is constantly going on. Anonymous provocative posters are being identified on Facebook. They will be prosecuted under the Digital Security Act. Some have already been brought under the law. The police official said some unruly youths had threatened to kill Awami League president Jafar Alam of Ward 7 in Pahartali and attacked his house.

In this regard, Jafar Alam said, the saboteurs of Hefazat, BNP-Jamaat people came to the police station to file a case alleging that they were attacked and threatened. The OC assured to take action subject to investigation. But an attempt has been made to spread confusion by distorting the statement of Cox's Bazar Sadar Police Station OC Sheikh Munir Ul Gias from a Facebook ID named Aminul Islam. Cox's Bazar Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge's statement about the recent activities of Hefazat, Bangladesh Awami League leaders and activists and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is fabricated and baseless. Awami League leader Zafar Alam said in a Facebook post that the OC of Cox's Bazar Sadar Model Police Station did not say anything about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Awami League leaders.

A case has been filed against those involved in the custody riots in Maheshkhali. He does not know Aminul Islam who posted on Facebook about this. However, he informed that a third party may have done it.

The superintendent of police said that the accused in the case filed by Hefazat-e-Islam for sabotage from another Facebook ID named Mohammad Robi, Maheshkhali police officer in charge Md. The statement that was posted using Abdul Hai's picture is fabricated and baseless and fabricated by the poster.

The police superintendent said that various people are syndicating using the name of the police and taking various immoral benefits. The syndicate also has some well-known journalists, who are corrupting the journalism profession. So everyone should be aware of them. And if anyone uses the name of the police to benefit from the common man, if any complaint is received, action will be taken.

Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Rafiqul Islam and Sadar Model Police Station OC Sheikh Munir ul Gias were also present at the time.
