Strengthening urban public health in Mymensingh stressed

Mayor of Mymensingh City Corporation Md. Ikramul Haque Titu said that various communicable and non-communicable diseases, natural calamities, various types of pollution, unhealthy food etc. are creating challenges in the public health of the city. People should be approached again and again with the message of awareness about these issues. Field level monitoring system should also be strengthened. Strengthening urban public health requires the cooperation of all concerned departments as well as public awareness and public involvement.

The mayor said this while inaugurating the training on identification and prevention of urban public health problems under the project of strengthening the urban public health system of Bangladesh at Shaheed Shahabuddin Auditorium today at 11:00 am.

Chief Executive Officer Md Yusuf Ali presided over the event organized by Mymensingh City Corporation in collaboration with Save the Children and CDC. In addition, Secretary Rajeev Kumar Sarkar, Chief Health Officer Dr. HK Debnath, Executive Magistrate Md. Masud Rana, Chief Accounting Officer Asim Saha, Save the Children-Bangladesh Manager Dr. Faiza Rahla, public health expert Dr. Fahmida Islam Lima and other medical officers, health supervisors and health workers were present.
