Story of a bird lover

Published : 02 Feb 2024 09:58 PM

Love is an inexhaustible power. Everything can be conquered with love. Even the birds of the forest, drenched in love, rush to people. Bird lover Moniur Rana has set such an example of love for birds in the city of Chuadanga.

At certain times every day the hungry birds rush to Rana. Then Rana lovingly gave food to the mouths of the hungry Shalik birds.

The Rana's hospitality has now accumulated the feeling of two hundred Shaliks for him. Shalik's closeness with Rana has also caught the hearts of the local people. For the past four years, Rana has been feeding numerous Shalik birds. Since the beginning of the corona epidemic, the feeding of birds has not been stopped even for a day.

In the beginning, 15-20 Shalik birds came to eat regularly, but now the number of Shaliks has increased to about 200.

Every day, at around 11 o'clock, the Shalik birds sit in a row on the cornice of electric lines and shops in front of Jeevannagar Upazila Health Complex and start chirping for food. Rana realizes that the birds are hungry. At that time he spread pieces of Chanachur, Biscuits, Bread, Muri and Parota in front of his business establishment for the birds. Instantly, swarms of cockroaches flew from the cornice of the electric wire and the store and ate the food with joy.

The birds eat without fear and leave again. It will seem that the birds are very familiar and familiar to the runner. For four consecutive years, he has been feeding the birds with a portion of his earnings. Local people often gather to see the relationship between birds and runners.

Moniur Rana's house is in Dailatdiar neighborhood of Chuadanga municipality. He ran an organization called Rana Xray in front of Upazila Health Complex of Jibannagar Upazila for 20 years.

He said, four years ago, during the corona epidemic, at 5-7 in the afternoon, the Shalik bird was searching for food by chirping in front of my establishment.

Meanwhile, I feed the birds some murris and chanachurs. The birds leave after eating the food. Then I go home and lie at night thinking, no one is leaving home due to corona lockdown.

Apart from this, most of the shops are closed due to less presence of people in the markets. Because of this, the birds are facing food shortage. I then decided to feed the birds as much as I could.

Next morning I come to my establishment and buy some Chanachur, Biscuits, Bread, Muri and Parotta from the hotel.

Cut the parathas into pieces and mix them with chanachur, biscuits, bread and wraps to make food for the birds. The next day, I noticed that at the same time many more Shalik birds had come and gathered in the hope of food. After giving the food, the birds ate happily and left.

Since then the feeding of the birds has not stopped even for a single day.

In the beginning, 6-7 birds came, but as the day progressed, the number of Shalik gradually increased. Slowly I developed a kind of love for the Shaliks. Now hundreds of Shaliks come to eat. Even if it costs two paise, I can't tell you the joy I get from them. I really like the chirping of the birds. It also calms the mind a lot. I love these birds like my own children.

I will sustain the relationship by feeding them as long as I can. He also said that if for some reason he is unable to sit in the shop for a day or two, after returning, the birds come chirping. Later, if you sprinkle the food, it will go away as you like.

Majedur Rahman Liton, the owner of the neighboring business, said that Rana has proved that many things can be won in exchange for love. In exchange for love, he has formed a bond with the bird. It is very nice to see the birds feeding in the afternoon. Chirping sound, which fills the mind. Thus, everyone should stand by the birds to protect the balance of nature.

Jibannagar Upazila Agriculture Officer. Moniruzzaman said, Shalik is a crop-friendly bird. They eat harmful insects in paddy fields especially during Amon season. This reduces the pesticide cost of the farmers to a great extent. For this reason, the Shalik birds need to be saved. Everyone should have this kind of love for birds like Rana. Birds benefit the environment in many ways. For which we should all show kindness to birds.
