While addressing a meeting of the Global Crisis Response Group (GCRG) on Food, Energy and Finance through a videoconference from her official residence Ganabhaban in capital Dhaka Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked the international community to take steps for an amicable end to the Ukraine war as the prolonging coupled with sanction and counter-sanction is destabilising the world. The premier said each passing day of the war takes as well as destroys many lives in the conflict zone, and also in the far-reaching corners of the world. Newer sophisticated armaments of war are being introduced everyday bringing yet more destruction causing severe adverse effects on people’s lives all over the world.
Bangladesh, as an energy and food-importing country, has been suffering from rising import bills, increasing inflation, and stress on foreign currency reserve. When the world economy is reeling from the pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine war, sanctions and counter-sanctions have created economic recession across the globe.
Bangladesh’s foreign policy is very clear as it believes ‘Friendship to all, malice to none’. We people of Bangladesh are calling upon both Russia and Ukraine to stop war, refrain from attacking each other in order to save lives.

The world is now facing a complex combination of challenges because of economic recession caused by the impact of Covid-19 pandemic coupled with Russia-Ukraine. The situation has already taken a serious turn this year as every sector of the world economies is facing a growing array of difficulties and challenges.
The developed countries including the USA, England and European are facing trouble in providing electricity, energy and fuel while the inflation crisis caused by price hike of everything continues crippling the financial sector. As inflation has increased, prices of all essentials went beyond purchasing capacity and not only the developing nation but also developed countries are struggling.
Bangladesh never supports any kind of invasion or any conflict. World should come forward to stop the war as the common people are suffering.
Thousands of civilians have already died while many others received serious injuries in the war. The attacks and counter attacks during the war are still damaging civilian buildings, including apartment blocks, schools, places of worship, and shops, impeding access to food and medicines. Besides, energy infrastructures are also being destroyed in the war, putting millions of people at risk of sickness and death as temperatures continue to plunge.
Such destruction and death game must not continue for the sake of humanity. The world leaders should pay heed to Sheikh Hasina’s call in order to stop the war. Besides, they should pressure Russia and Ukraine to end the war as early as possible.
