An organization called Swadhin Samaj Kalyan Parishad formed a human chain on the Thakurgaon-Baliadangi highway demanding stopping of threshing and drying of paddy, wheat and maize on the highway. The human chain program was held at Baliadangi Upazila crossroads on Thursday.
President of Baliadangi Independent Social Welfare Council Mohammad Ullah Raihan Dulu presided over the human chain.
Baliadangi Upazila BNP General Secretary Dr TM Mahbubur Rahman, Organizing Secretary Khorshed Alam, Joint Organizing Secretary Mamun Akter Sabur, Jasas General Secretary Journalist Harun Aur Rashid, Labor Party President spoke on the occasion.
Dabirul Islam, general secretary of Baliadangi Truck Tanglery Workers Union, Sumon Ali, executive member of Baliadangi Blood Donor Organization, Rahat Chowdhury, president of Swechachari Chhatra Sangha and others were present.
Leaders of various political and social organizations took part in the human chain. The speakers said that despite various vehicles plying on the Thakurgaon-Baliadangi highway, some locals have been plowing and drying paddy, wheat, maize on the road.
Small and big accidents are happening every day. It may be mentioned that on the evening of June 23, a Boro paddy pile was stored on the road and a passenger vehicle heading to Baliadangi overturned while passing a truck and 4 passengers were killed when the truck crushed it.
