Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) AJM Nasir Uddin has said that Eid-ul-Adha has come in the midst of the Corona epidemic and it has to be observed in accordance with regulatory rules to maintain religious seriousness and formality.

The Chattogram City Corporation is giving utmost importance to the sacrificial animal markets in the city fully complying with the government guidelines and hygiene rules to eliminate the risk of spreading the infection, he added.

The city mayor made the remarks at a meeting with animal market leaseholders at the conference room of the CCC building in Chattogram city on Monday morning.

He said there would be no other shops or establishments in the city except animal control poles, tents, health security and camps for the sale of pesticides, law enforcement and volunteer camps.

No older persons or minors may come to the market and no more than two persons may go with the animal buyer. CCC will strictly adhere to all that needs to be done to ensure health safety and social distance in the animal huts.

Addressing the buyers and sellers, the mayor said the government, the administration and the CCC must fulfill the overall responsibility of setting up health-friendly animal stalls as well as the essential responsibilities of the general buyers and sellers.

One thing to keep in mind is to buy and sell animals as soon as possible. It will not be possible to stop the gathering of people and there may be a risk of negative impact if the time is spent unnecessarily thinking about the price verification-selection and buying later.

Councilor  AFM Kabir Manik, Chief Executive Officer Md. Shamsuddoha, Chief Revenue Officer Mufidul Alam, Mayor Private Secretary Md. Abul Hashem and others were present at the meeting.

At the meeting, a documentary on public awareness and compliance with the hygiene rules of the animal market was presented through a projector.
