Hanging body of an SSC examminee was recovered in Cumilla's Lalmai upazila early Wednesday.
The deceased Sumaia Akter Ria, 15, was a resident of Madhyam Chhilonia area under the upazila. She was an SSC examinee from Harishchar Union High School and College in the upazila.
According to police and locals, the girl committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling in the kitchen of her grandmother's house around 10 pm.
Later, being informed, police recovered the body around 12:30 am and sent it to morgue for autopsy.
According to the relatives of the girl, Sumaia Akter Ria used to live in her maternal house in Madhya Chinnia village since her childhood as her father Hiron Mia and mother Rina Begum got married elsewhere. Two years ago, Sumaia got married to Kaushar Alam, a Bahrain expatriate from Rajapur village in neighboring Laksam upazila.
Lalmai Police Station officer-in-charge Abdullah Al Mahfuz said, after the autopsy, the body of the deceased has been handed over to the family. An unatural death case was filed with the police station in this regard, the OC added.
