The 1993 blockbuster "Baazigar," starring Shah Rukh Khan, could soon get a sequel, with the actor reportedly considering a return to his iconic role. Producer Ratan Jain recently confirmed that "Baazigar 2" is under discussion, although the project depends on SRK’s agreement to reprise his role. Released on November 12, 1993, "Baazigar" gained widespread fame, turning Khan's anti-hero character into a memorable part of Bollywood history.
In an interview with ETimes, Jain said that discussions with Khan about the sequel are ongoing, and while nothing has been finalized, the project is very much alive. The producer emphasized that he will only proceed if the script is strong and captures the excitement of the original film. Jain hinted at a new, interesting concept but is determined to uphold the quality that made "Baazigar" a success.
Directed by the Abbas-Mustan duo, the original film became a trendsetter with its thrilling storyline and unforgettable performances, especially from Shah Rukh and co-star Kajol. The film also featured Shilpa Shetty, Siddharth Ray, Rakhee, Dalip Tahil, and Johny Lever, adding depth and appeal to the movie’s suspenseful narrative.
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh is preparing to start shooting for his new film, "King," in January 2025. This film marks a special milestone as it will be his first project with his daughter, Suhana Khan, who is also an aspiring actor. "King" will feature Abhishek Bachchan and Abhay Verma in prominent roles.
"Baazigar 2" would not only rekindle memories of the classic but could also bring Shah Rukh’s iconic anti-hero character to a new generation. Fans eagerly await further updates on both projects.
