Sports minister for quick renovation of BNS

Nazmul Haassan Papon emphasized the completion of the renovation works of Bangabandhu National Stadium including some other proposed infrastructures and instructed the planning directors and also urges the project directors to complete all the works very soon.

Papon, the newly appointed Sports Minister replacing the former State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russel had a review meeting on Sunday in his office at the Ministry when he put across his planning about incomplete works and under construction of some of the stadiums and the infrastructures including the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

Papon, giving priority to the renovation works of the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS), when talking to the media said, “The renovation works of the BNS have been going on. I am hopeful that it would be finished by December 2024. I have already instructed the directors of the planning department of the National Sports Council (NSC).”

Besides the BNS, Papon also focused on the Sheikh Russel Mini-stadium, stadium for the physically and mentally challenged adjacent to the National Parliament Bhaban.

Papon, who is also the incumbent president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said that he would visit to observe the progresses of the BNS renovation works and the under construction of the  stadium for physically and mentally challenged.  

Papon told the reporters that he have already a seating with relevant officers to know the priority basis planning – “I met with the peoples were entrusted with accomplishing the works and discussed about three plans giving first priority.”

“Following the order of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Russel Stadium, one each in all Upazilas of the country are under constructions. In the first phase 125 stadiums have already completed and constructions of 186 stadiums have been going on. Besides that I have already learned about the progress of the BNs and the stadium for the physically and mentally challenged, adjacent of the Parliament Bhaban I will visit the projects very soon,” Papon reveled.

Papon also said that he has already instructed the relevant people to submit written proposals of proper use and maintenance of the infrastructures.
