Special puja arranged in Narail to recall Pranab

Former Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, who was known as the son-in-law of Narail, was commemorated in Narail on Friday. A daylong programme including special puja was held at Pranab Mukherjee’s wife Shuvra Mukherjee’s maternal house Tularampur in Narail. 

Shuvra Mukherjee Foundation established in the name of Pranab Mukherjee's wife Shuvra Mukherjee prayed for the peace of the soul of Pranab Mukherjee at 11:00 am, Puja and Gita recitation at 12:00 noon, and food and clothing distribution at 2:00 p.m. 

In the afternoon, a reminiscence about Pranab Mukherjee's career was held at Shuvra Mukherjee’s maternal cousin Katrik Khosh’s house temple premises. On the day on behalf of former Minister and Member of Parliament of Khulna-5 constituency, Narayan Chandra Chand, Dumuria Awami League leaders distributed 100 pieces of Sari, 100 pieces of Lungi, 12 pieces of dhoti and genji. 

Dumuria Sadar union Awami League Secretary Ashfar Joarddar, Dumuria upazila Awami League organizing secretary Gopal Chandra Dey, MP's PS Sameer De Gora, Awami League leader Subrata Faujdar, Local BCL leader Mehedi Hasan Raja, Michael Roy distributed Saris, Lungis and dhoti-genji on behalf of MP Narayan Chandra Chanda. 

Deputy Commissioner of Narail Anjuman Ara was present as the chief guest at the memorial meeting on the premises of Ghoshbari temple in Tulampur. Narail District Awami League President and Shuvra Mukherjee Foundation’s President Advocate Subash Chandra Bose presided over the discussion. Superintendent of Police Md. Jasim Uddin PPM, former Deputy Secretary Ministry of Public Administration Uttam Kumar Roy were present as special guests at the discussion. Trustee of Shuvra Mukherjee Foundation Karthik Ghosh, Engineer P.K Ghosh, Director of Shuvra Mukherjee Foundation Ayon Ranjan Das, executive member Dr. Alok Kumar Bagchi among others were present in the discussion. 

Shuvra (former name Gita) was born in Bhadrabila village of Narail sadar upazila on September 17 in 1943, breathed her last in Indian Army Hospital on August 18 in 2015.Her father name Amorendranath Ghosh and mother was Meera Rani Ghosh . She was second among nine brothers and sisters. Her family migrated from Narail to Kolkata in 1955 when she was 12 years old.

Shuvra Mukherjee was married to Pranab Mukherjee at the age of 14. Indian former President Pranab Mukherjee visited Bhadrabila village in Narail along with his wife Shuvra Mukherjee during his three-day official visit to Bangladesh in March 5, 2013. Mentioned here Indian former president Pranab Mukherjee passed away on August 31 evening this year.
