Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will deploy special police force to ensure security of metro rail. With the construction work of metro rail progressing fast, the premier has prioritized safety by allocating special police force for metro rail.

This kind of transport system is a first in the history of our country, and needless to say miscreants would try to take advantage of this situation to create chaos and disruption.

To ensure that petty criminals as well as extremists do not get the chance to bring harm to the rest of society, special police will be on duty.

In our country, pick-pocketing and harassment of women is common in almost all modes of transport, from buses to trains. These kind of misdemeanors will likely also take place on the metro rail unless certain precautions are taken.

The government’s foresight in ensuring

the safety of passengers

is truly commendable

The fast moving metro rail will run from Uttara and Motijheel via Mirpur and Farmgate, carrying 60,000 passengers in an hour touching every station once in every four minutes. There will be 16 stations – Uttara North, Central and South, Pallabi, Mirpur-11, Mirpur-10, Kazipara, Taltala, Agargaon, Bijoy Sarani, Farmgate, Sonargaon, National Museum, Doel Chattar, Bangabandhu National Stadium and Bangladesh Bank.

When the project is completed, the city’s commuters will be able to bypass the traffic situation and get to their destination much faster. Moreover, it will also be a safer alternative to buses and other forms of transport, as the risk of traffic accidents will be eliminated.

Number of road accidents is also likely to fall as the metro rail will be carrying a big share of commuters everyday and reduce the rush on the roads of the city.

The government’s foresight in ensuring the safety of passengers is truly commendable. Development means nothing unless it is properly planned and executed. Safety and well-being of people must be prioritized when it comes to implementation of all development projects.
