Chattogram Career Fest-2024 held at CU

Speakers underscore skills development of students

The biggest career festival of the port city, ‘Keeron mastercard presented Chattogram Career Fest 2024’ was held at Chattogram University (CU) in a joint venture of Excellence Bangladesh and Marketing Society for Leadership Proliferation on Saturday.

The career fest started in the morning at the faculty of Business Administration auditorium of the university.

About 400 students from different universities including Chattogram University participated in it.  

The event was moderated by Executive Board Member Mahbub A Rahman of Excellence Bangladesh and presided over by Marketing Department Head Professor Dr Tunazzina Sultana.

Chattogram University (CU) Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Md Abu Taher inaugurated the fest as the chief guest.  

In the speech of the chair, Prof Dr Tunazzina Sultana said we want to reach our goal through education. However, apart from academic studies, students have to be associated with various organizations to reach their goals.  

Speaking as the chief guest, CU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Md Abu Taher said that every year the number of students graduating from the university is increasing. But, the job opportunities are inadequate.

Emphasizing on skills development in this era of globalization, he said, “Youth should acquire proficiency in co-curricular activities as well as textbooks.  Especially, leadership, language education study, technical education should be developed in all areas including competence. Everyone should not limit themselves to traditional education but should be educated in modern science minded 'smart education' and engage in entrepreneurial and innovative work to work for the welfare of the country. 

Students need to fill in the skills and qualifications they lack.  Students around the world are becoming proficient in a variety of languages.  Our students have to achieve that skill too.  

University students have to work on research.  Those working on research will be supported by university funds.  Along with education, students have to acquire various skills.”

A total of 22 guest speakers including CEOs, founders of various corporate organizations were present in this daylong event.  The invited guests were Sabbir Nasir, Managing Director of ACI Logistics Limited (SWAPNO).  Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, Founder and Managing Partner of Build Icon Consultancies Limited, Fahim Mashroor, CEO of bdjobs.com, Shark Tank Bangladesh, Indranil Chattapadhay, CMO of BRAC Bank PLC, Manjurul Haque, founder of Barcode Restaurant Group, Jisan Kingshuk Haque, Managing Director of Bids Economy Limited, Tanveer Shahriar Rimon, CEO of Rancon Real Estate & Sea Fishing.  About 500 registered students of different universities including Chattogram University participated in the program. The daylong event features various competitions, opportunities and prizes with presentations from industry experts, entrepreneurs and iconic figures of the time.
