An official of the Spanish embassy in Dhaka died after reportedly falling from the roof of a multi-storey building at Gulshan area in the capital on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Ismail Gil Sereno, 58. Sheikh Shahinur Rahman, Inspector (Investigation) of Gulshan Police Station, said “This Spanish official died this afternoon after falling from a building opposite of Gulshan Pink City Shopping Complex on Gulshan Avenue. Initially, we doubt that Serrano committed suicide.”
“Ismail Gil Serrano was mentally dipressed. Earlier he beat people for no reason. Many people called us through 999 and complained about Serrano,” said Shahinur.
Mazharul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gulshan Police Station, said “A suicide note was recovered. Police suspected that he might have committed suicide.”
The OC said “The body will be preserved and taken to the hospital for post-mortem. Legal action will be taken thereafter.”
