The whole world is stunned by the horrors of coronavirus. Bangladesh is no exception. On Sunday, government postponed all kinds of sports. Dhaka Premier League, the country’s most prestigious domestic one-day tournament, has been suspended as well.

So for time being, national team cricketers are spending idle time at the moment. However, many cricketers, including batsman Soumya Sarkar, have personally continued training on the field.

Soumya came to practice at the academy ground of Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. He told about his current goal in the practice session, “It’s been only one day. We were informed from the team that only game has been postponed. Apart from that we are all personally aware of fitness and will also practice on our own. This will always keep us mentally and physically ready for the matches, whenever it starts.”

Even though he is currently practising on his own but Soumya welcomed government’s decision to postpone all kinds of sports for a certain time. According to him, staying healthy is the key, “It’s definitely for the good of everyone. Hopefully, Bangladesh’s people will remain healthy.

On the question of whether it is possible to spread coronavirus from the field, Soumya said, “I cannot say that, doctors know better about that. But it is good to be personally careful. I adhere to the rules. But as a player I always want to be on the field and play. However, since a virus panic is going on, so as soon as it will be revolved the better it is for us.”
