Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud on Friday said some political parties have already quit the BNP-led alliance though the party claimed that they would wage tough movement against the government along with their allies.

Some political parties under the leadership of Kalyan Party chairman Major General (retired) Syed Muhammad Ibrahim have already left the alliance, he told the triennial conference of Matsyajibi League Ranguniya upazila unit at Advocate Nurussafa Talukder Pouro auditorium with upazila unit convener M Iskandar Mia Talukder in the chair.

Dr Hasan said it is not the government or Awami League but BNP leaders kept their central office under lock in key after the mayhem on October 28. Now BNP leaders find none to open their office, he said, adding, "BNP leaders have lost courage of opening their office. How will they do politics?" he questioned.

He said the Israeli forces killed about 14,000 innocent people in Gaza. Out of them, about 9,500 are women and children, he said.

But, the minister said, BNP didn't tell a single ward against the Israeli forces.

About the upcoming election, he said the poll will be held as per the schedule with huge participation of voters and countrymen.

Matsyajibi League Chattogram North district unit president M Harun-ur Rashid inaugurated the conference while its general secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam addressed it as the key speaker.
