Some Ctg RMG factories resume operation

Some garment factories in Chittagong have restarted operation by following the health protection rules for workers. It is learnt three garments factories in EPZ at Nasirabad, BGMEA at Kalurghat area and BKMEA 100% export oriented factories which have orders have restarted operation in a limited scale from Sunday morning.

BEPZA General Manager & CEPZ In-charge Khurshid Alam said, these factories have export orders and in compliance with the health protection rules of the workers, operation has restarted in more than 50 factories of CEPZ. There are 41 factories in Karnafuli EPZ. Besides, Youngone Group has many factories in Korean EPZ under Karnafuli police station.

According to BGMEA sources, work is underway in some garment factories to complete export orders with workers who have homes within walking distance of the factory. According to BKMEA sources, 27 factories are operating in different areas of the city including Kattali, Karnafulli river bank, Kalurghat BSIC industrial area, Nandir Hat, Barik Building. The BKMEA compliance team is monitoring workers' health regulations, Corona virus prevention masks, use of hand gloves, hand sanitizer or soap water system.

An EPZ factory owner said, "We are making export products by ensuring the health protection of the limited number of workers who live near the factory." The factory has been kept open to a limited extent in compliance with the instructions of the government.
